‘Water for all’ initiative to be launched in Belagavi

Belagavi (Belgaum): Belagavi Mayor Sarita Viraj Patil on Monday announced a ‘Water for all’ programme to ensure availability of drinking water to all households here.

She also announced that a special meeting of the Belagavi City Corporation council would be convened and officials from the Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Drainage Board would be invited for a discussion and preparation of an action plan.

Delegation to meet CM for Rural Belagavi Development

Belagavi (Belgaum): A delegation consisting of legislators and MPs from the district led by Small-Scale Industries Minister Ramesh L. Jarkiholi will meet Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to seek additional funds for expediting development works in rural areas in the district.

A decision to this effect was taken at a Karnataka Development Programme review meeting here on Saturday.

Belagavi (Belgaum): The increased inflows from the catchment areas into the Krishna river course and its tributaries, including Doodhganga, have rendered large tracts of agricultural fields water-logged and damaged standing crops, Deputy Commissioner N. Jayaram has said. He added that the extent of loss to growers would be assessed once the water levels in the fields receded.
